Covered in gestural and physical paint marks, the works portray a variety of characters in different National identities. Emphasis is created through the texture of the paint on the surface. There is heavy attention to the surface through the application of paint. The colors ultimately refer to cultural heritage, some of which are based on old history and others constructed.
Fitting the term “Neo Nations”, the work refers to these cultural heritages and clashes between nations. The characters engage in conflict based on their ethnicity and culture. The “Gods” act as representations and symbols of cultural groups. Not meant to be cohesive, each series of New Gods focus on a different element of a grand story.
